Whale Watchers Capture Rare Sight Of A White Dolphin Off California Coast

A white Risso’s dolphin was spotted Friday by a group of whale watchers off the Southern California coastline.

The young Risso’s dolphin, almost certainly an albino, was documented by Dana Point’s “Dana Wharf Whale Watch”.

In the video a man on a microphone is heard pointing out the rare animal in a pod of what was 30 to 40 other dolphins.

“This albino juvenile Risso’s dolphin has rarely been seen in Monterey,” the whale-watching company stated on Facebook. “Today, we had great looks at it and from the drone’s perspective you can see the other Risso’s swimming next to it with ‘normal’ dark gray color and scars from squid and teeth [from other Risso’s dolphins].”
